Charlie Warstler LCMHCA, LCAS
Charlie is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the State of North Carolina. He has been involved in the mental health profession since 2005 in various capacities. He completed a Masters in Transpersonal Psychology from Naropa University, a Masters in Clinical Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling from East Carolina University, and currently working on his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Texas Tech University.
Charlie has worked in various substance use and mental health programs throughout the country, opportunities that provided unique ways to treat individuals. His greatest strength in counseling is adjusting his approaches to a client’s specific needs. No one approach works with all people; rather, working together as a team, Charlie and his clients find a great course of action to find solutions to specific challenges. He values intellectual discussions as a vehicle for creating awareness. Charlie likes to look at counseling as an experience with meaning and depth while also creating an opportunity to find or rediscover one’s unique story.
Charlie works with emerging adults (age 21 and up), men that may struggle opening up to others, and those experiencing radical changes like retirement, new relationships or chronic conditions. Charlie specializes in substance use challenges and subsequent co- occurring disorders, with an emphasis in finding the right harm reduction approach. Outside of doing clinical work, Charlie is passionate about the outdoors, playing golf, building things, and on road trips to see the country. Charlie is an advocate for harm reduction in the psychedelic-assisted therapy world, providing consultation for adverse experiences to various entities, and dedicating time to developing research in this new area of mental health.
