Emilie Adams is a current masters-level student that is pursuing her graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. As an intern at Matone Counseling and Testing, she is excited to work with clients from all walks of life to facilitate mutual learning and growth experiences.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in finance at UNCC, Emilie spent years in the business world before mustering up the courage to pursue her dream career in counseling, determined to help others reach their true potential. With personal experience in a dramatic career change, Emilie is dedicated to providing support for those also moving through life transitions.
Emilie’s style of counseling stems from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach. Since every individual is unique, she also draws techniques from a variety of theoretical orientations to tailor sessions to each person’s specific needs and strengths.
Emilie enjoys working with a diverse range of clients and has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults presenting with anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning disabilities, family conflict, PTSD, and more. She is particularly interested in areas such as body image, low self-esteem, and disordered eating.
Emilie looks forward to dedicating her knowledge and skills towards helping others overcome challenges and move towards finding balance.
