Whitney is a graduate student of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Montreat College.  Her undergraduate degree was a double major in Fine Art and Art Education, which overlaps with counseling in the curriculum components of human development, multicultural considerations, and teaching skills.  She also had a long career as a nanny, working with children supporting their crucial formative years along every milestone of childhood development.

Her counseling approach is eclectic, recognizing the value in each psychological theory for its unique contributions to our understanding of human existence, although not every approach works for everybody when it comes to counseling.  Her favorites are Adlerian, Existentialism, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, pivoting to match the desires and needs of each unique client, but first and foremost she is Rogerian Person-Centered.  She also recognizes supporting the body to support the mind and practicing mindfulness to engender positive mental hygiene.

Whitney grew up in Southeast swamps and beaches before settling into the Asheville mountains in 2010.  In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, creating, reading, laughing with friends, and spending time with her beau of a decade plus.
