Emily (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) in North Carolina. She earned her Master of Social Work from Illinois State University, where she specialized in Children and Families, and her Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology. Emily currently works as a counselor at a university counseling center, where she provides individual counseling, crisis intervention, and support to college students navigating a variety of mental health and life concerns. She also has experience working with children and families, college students, and individuals navigating significant life transitions.

Emily believes that therapy is a collaborative process and that clients are the experts of their own experiences. She strives to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel comfortable being themselves while also working toward meaningful change. Emily takes a trauma-informed and integrative approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed approaches, Motivational Interviewing, and somatic and polyvagal-informed practices. She works collaboratively with each client to find approaches that fit their individual needs, experiences, and goals.

Emily works primarily with high school students, college students, and emerging adults. She is especially passionate about supporting clients navigating anxiety and anxiety disorders, trauma and trauma processing, identity exploration, relationships, major life transitions, and substance use concerns related to alcohol and cannabis. Emily also has a particular interest in working with athletes and exploring the ways that athletics, performance, identity, and mental health can intersect.

Outside of work, Emily is a former collegiate swimmer and continues to have a strong love for swimming and sports. She enjoys watching sports, reading, and spending time with the people she loves. Emily believes that therapy can be a place to slow down, better understand yourself, and feel supported as you navigate whatever season of life you are in.
