Maxine is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA) at Matone Counseling Charlotte. She earned her Master’s in Social Work at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marist College in New York.
She specializes in working with children and adolescents (4yrs – 18 yrs) living with mood and anxiety disorders, behavioral challenges, and those facing stressors from life adjustments or transitions. Maxine has five years’ experience working with individuals and families who have witnessed or experienced peer violence (bullying and cyberbullying), domestic violence, dating violence, or sexual assault. She creates a safe and brave space for her clients that is warm, engaging, and collaborative to build trusting relationships.
Maxine’s approach combines various techniques that draw upon internal family system (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed therapy, motivational interviewing, and brief solution-focused. She helps individuals learn to identify and communicate their thoughts and emotions in a way that results in improved self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and coping skills. Maxine has a passion for helping her clients explore their internal strengths to achieve their goals and live a happier and healthier life.
