Rook Schapman (they/them) is a doctoral candidate earning their Psy.D. at Western Carolina University, where they also earned their master’s degree in clinical psychology. They have a research background relating to mindfulness, self-regulation, and trauma, as well as a clinical background in psychological assessment. Rook’s theoretical perspectives include existential, person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based orientations.
Rook believes strongly in the profound connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and seeks to collaborate with others to empower them to harness this connection. With emphases on mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral techniques, Rook helps their clients to reshape unhelpful thought patterns and embrace the present moment.
In their free time, Rook enjoys rock climbing, hiking, gaming, and spending time with their partner and dog.
