Alex (she/they) is a Licensed Psychologist who earned their Doctorate in Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University (Richmond, KY). She is also the Clinical Director of the Central Asheville location. Having a special interest working with the LGBTQ+ community, they are Safe Zone trained and have led processing and support groups within this community for over 8 years. Being part of this community herself, she strives to create an affirming, nonjudgemental, and warm environment for those she works with. Additionally, Alex is passionate about working with trauma survivors and neurodivergence.
Alex exclusively works with adult neurodivergent psychological assessments. Being diagnosed with adhd at 28, they understand the validation (and frustration) of receiving diagnostic clarity in adulthood. She has a long history of working with neurodivergent individuals (i.e., asd, adhd, ocd) and truly enjoys her work with this population. They also love working with the LGBTQ+ community and providing individuals and families with a safe and welcoming environment throughout the assessment process. In addition to psychological assessments, she happily accepts appointments for folx seeking gender affirming letters of support!
Alex’s approach involves meeting clients where they are at to promote choice, empowerment, and validation. They do so by utilizing an eclectic, person-centered, feminist-based, approach that allows the client to take the lead and advocate for their needs.
Alex loves to include situation-appropriate humor and creativity when she can. When they’re not working, they are often found crafting, gardening, or walking on nature trails with her wife and dogs. In both her personal life and professionally, she approaches the world with a blend of blunt realism and compassionate acceptance.
