Alex (she/they) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who earned their Doctorate in Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University (Richmond, KY). She is also the Clinical Director of the Central Asheville location. Having a special interest working with the LGBTQ+ community, they are Safe Zone trained and have led processing and support groups within this community for over 8 years. Being part of this community herself, she strives to create an affirming, nonjudgemental, and warm environment for those she works with. Additionally, Alex is passionate about working with trauma survivors, neurodivergence, and women’s issues.

Alex’s therapeutic approach centralizes on meeting clients where they are at and working at their pace. They do this by promoting a trauma-informed environment that is eclectic, and includes a person-centered and feminist-based approach. By doing so, her goal is to provide clients with choice, empowerment, and validation, while giving clients space to take the lead and advocate for their needs.

Alex enjoys incorporating situation-appropriate humor and creativity when possible. She has experience with expressive arts and finds this to be a great addition to her work, especially when communication can be hard or a client is feeling stuck. They offer individual counseling and have a significant background in working with young adults. In addition to working with gender and sexuality concerns, trauma survivors, and women’s issues, she also has experience working with mood disorders, specifically anxiety disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, life transitions and adjustment, relational concerns, suicidality, and self-harm. Alex believes that each client requires an approach tailored to their needs and strives to remain flexible and creative with these approaches.

Alex enjoys conducting psychological assessments as well. Specifically, she has a focus on evaluating potential neurodivergence in adulthood. Importantly, they also strive to create an environment where those within the LGBTQ+ community can safely seek a psychological evaluation. Alex understands the vulnerability of reaching out to seek services and is ready to provide you with patience and persistence.
