David Jamsky Pollack is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Studies from Emory University (2001) and a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from the University of Georgia (2005). After an 11-year career in marketing and public relations, David returned to school and received his Master of the Art of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montreat College (2017). David is a registered member (MBACP) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychology and is nationally board-certified (NCC) in the United States by the National Board of Certified Counselors. David is also trained and certified in Written Exposure Therapy (WET) and is currently in training to become a Certified Sex Therapy-Informed Professional (CSTIP) therapist. David has training in issues affecting trans youth and has had both extensive training in and experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

David provides virtual outpatient therapy to adults and adolescents in the state of North Carolina, focusing on trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, gender dysphoria and personality disorders; he has extensive experience treating Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). David works with clients of all ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds age 12 and up. His “target” populations include teenagers (age 12-20) and young adults (21-30), the LGBTQiA+ community – particularly trans youth – young/new parents, and clients navigating the challenges of middle age and the challenges of approaching retirement, empty nest and burnout.

David provides Relationship Counseling to couples, throuples and polycules, is kink- and queer- friendly – no matter where on the rainbow you fall – and is also friendly to alternative lifestyles which may be harder to define. David’s counseling philosophy is based in existentialist theory and integrates an eclectic array of approaches; these include DBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, faith non-specific Religious Counseling and Kinetic/Play Therapy (KPT), as well as trauma recovery incorporating acceptance techniques, core values and identity work, along with Exposure Therapy and WET. David’s mission as a counselor is to create and maintain a grounded, collaborative and above all safe space where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered.

David commits to providing collaborative, relational counseling with strong emphasis on self- reflection, acceptance, trust and genuine connection. It is his philosophy that therapy is most effective when it is compassionate and personalized. A third-generation alumnus of the University of Georgia, David is a devoted fan of Bulldogs athletics, a lover of the city of Athens and the father of a UGA student. In addition to his careers in PR/marketing and mental health counseling, David has taught acting, playwriting and theatre history at both UGA and Winthrop University, and has worked professionally as an editor and ghostwriter. He worked semi-professionally as a sketch and musical comedy writer, performer and songwriter throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, releasing a comedy album in 2007. Many of his plays have been produced in venues up and down the east coast, including Cures for Everything, Going On, Woebegone and The Unburied Dead. David has two grown children and lives with his wife, Hannah, and their two dogs, Pippa and Godzilla.
