Janelle Atkins is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in the state of North Carolina and holds credentials as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Janelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Montclair State University and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where her interests include under-researched topics in counseling such as religion/spirituality and intrafamilial trauma.
Janelle primarily counsels from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) lens incorporating techniques from various modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Humanistic Existential Therapy. Janelle is committed to providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care to a diverse range of clients although she primarily sees adults ages 23+, couples, and families. She is passionate about supporting those struggling with anxiety, identity, religion/spirituality, and relationship issues.
Outside of work, Janelle can be found spending time with family and friends, engaging in community service, and traveling. She loves decorating, cooking, reading, an oxford comma, and anything adventurous! On a personal level, Janelle values integrity, depth, and connection; qualities she intentionally brings into her work with clients.
