Korey has been involved in the mental health field since 2016 as a direct support professional, qualified mental health professional, and licensed clinical mental health counselor. He has wide experience working directly with trauma, depression, anxiety, social isolation, autism, ADHD, substance use, chronic medical conditions, chronic pain, developmental challenges, family challenges, and career growth. His preferred age range is 12+ years and has worked with neurodivergent populations, LGBTQIA+, adolescents, emerging adults, families, and people from all different walks of life, culture, and identity. Korey’s primary treatment modalities are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Expressive Arts. He continues to develop his counseling knowledge and experience to become more well-rounded to best serve clients’ needs by furthering training in different therapies and seeking certification for specialized areas.

Korey seeks to help clients gain more independence and agency in their lives through understanding and compassion. This always starts with a discussion centered around clients’ comfort and what they want from counseling. This could involve reevaluating beliefs about the self and the world, learning how beliefs developed, clarifying personal values, learning strategies to manage uncomfortable experiences, providing a safe environment to delve into distressing thoughts, emotions, and body sensations, understanding relational challenges, recontextualizing trauma, building resiliency and making steps towards a meaningful life.

In his spare time, Korey enjoys creating and listening to music, sharing his love of baking, playing all types of games with friends, reading and watching fantasy and science-fiction, volunteering with community organizations, and playing with his cat.
