Melissa Robinson (she/her) is a graduate student at Capella University working towards her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. She believes one of her best therapeutic tools is her own lived experiences, much of which involved sitting right where you will be sitting when you meet with her. Melissa understands the feelings of loneliness, shame, guilt, and fear- the feeling that something may be ‘wrong’ or perhaps healing isn’t possible. Through her own journey, she has experienced firsthand the transformative power of a compassionate therapeutic relationship, and she is dedicated to providing her clients with the same safe, nonjudgmental space that was so kindly given to her.
Melissa firmly believes that healing happens in relationships, and that the therapeutic relationship is often the first step. In session with her, clients will find a space to explore their inner world, uncover barriers that may be holding them back, and develop the confidence and self-compassion to move forward as their best selves. Whether you are seeking relief from pain, self-acceptance, the courage to take a new direction, or at a difficult point your relationship, Melissa is here to support you on that journey.
Melissa primarily uses a collaborative, person-centered approach, but also incorporates aspects of Internal Family Systems and Emotionally Focused Therapy into her practice.
When Melissa isn’t seeing clients, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two crazy kids, doing DIY projects around the house that take a million times longer than anticipated, taking long walks outside, and talking nonstop with her friends.
