Stu Reit (he/him) earned his master’s degree in clinical psychology from Western Carolina University and is thrilled to provide psychological services with Matone Counseling and Testing. After nearly a decade working in business at a large financial services company, he chose to pursue a career in psychology to more directly support others as they navigate life’s ups and downs.
Stu believes in meeting each client where they are and takes a collaborative approach to therapy. He works with clients to understand their wants and needs and tailors their work together so that they feel safe and empowered to grow. He believes that meaningful change is possible even in the face of life’s challenges. He has experience providing psychotherapy for a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional and behavioral difficulties. Stu also offers psychological assessments, including cognitive and achievement testing, to help inform diagnosis and treatment planning. He draws from a variety of approaches in his clinical work, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices.
Outside of work, Stu enjoys playing basketball, running outside, and exploring the Western North Carolina mountains. He is always looking for new podcast recommendations.
